For several decades now the Dynapac brand has been no stranger to those involved in soil compaction and roading workspaces. Dynapac is one of the world’s pre-eminent manufacturers of compaction and paving equipment.

Founded in Stockholm Sweden in the 1930s as AB Vibro Betong, the Swedish Multinational Engineering group now owned by the Fayat Group produces pavers, feeders, rollers, planers, and a range of light compaction products. Dynapac has held a strong presence globally since the CA25 road roller introduced in 1970 became the world’s leading compaction roller of its time.

Today Dynapac has manufacturing sites in Germany, Sweden, China, India, and Brazil providing access to emerging markets and strategic manufacturing economies.

In 2018 MIMICO became the New Zealand distributor for the Dynapac range. By the end of 2022, MIMICO and Dynapac achieved number 2 market share position in the roller segment in the country. The roller product line-up is strong within the New Zealand hire company space, driven by Dynapac’s standing with hire customers and the legendary reliability that Dynapac rollers are known for.

MIMICO has been supplying equipment to the construction, quarry, and civil sectors for over 30 years. The company has four branches in the main centres and a service agent network nationwide. MIMICO continues to grow its business nationwide with over 115 staff located around the country delivering, and supporting world class equipment to its customer base. The Dynapac partnership has continued to grow for MIMICO and the company sees a lot of opportunity in the New Zealand market for the paving product line.

The Dynapac paver line up is steadily seeing more uptake from the New Zealand market. Enquiry has been driven by paving customers with existing plant looking to renew their aged paving assets. The paver market is an area of focus for MIMICO in 2023, the company working hard on new sales opportunities across the country.

At the Bauma expo in Germany last year Dynapac showcased its Protac Paver which received a lot of interest. The Dynapac Spraypaver – PROTAC, brings two processes together in one machine: paving and spraying. With the Dynapac PROTAC everything is seamlessly integrated into the system and easily activated. The sliding bar concept with symmetric hoses ensures a uniform emulsion mat. This is due to the smart heating concept with mats and heating rod the emulsion is heated up in a gentle and efficient way for the highest quality outcome.

In June, MIMICO National Sales and Marketing Manager, Shane Rau and Ryan Clark, National Technical Services Manager visited the Dynapac production facility in Pune, India.

“The Dynapac facility is world-class, manufacturing models for both domestic and export markets,” says Shane.

“I last visited India on business 20 years ago. What became apparent from this tour was the powerhouse that the Indian economy has become and how the Indian manufacturing sector has developed much further than I could have realised without having travelled to the country.”

For multinational manufacturers, India is clearly seen as a viable alternative to Chinese production lines.

“We toured the Pune facility with Dynapac Oceania Business Manager Daniel Axiak, and we were hosted by Dynapac India Managing Director Abhjit Som and his team. “What we saw was a world class facility group of highly skilled people with the expertise required to compete in export markets. They were ambitious and driven. The visit was an absolute eye opener for Ryan and I,” says Shane.

In 2023 MIMICO will have to work hard to maintain its roller market share as it seeks to further develop the sales of the Dynapac pavers within New Zealand and looks forward to introducing some new light compaction products later this year that should offer some excitement to hire companies wanting to transition to Dynapac light compaction products.

Dynapac’s range of rollers, pavers and light compaction equipment along with parts supply and service support is available from MIMICO.
