Today, we have proposed a change to the structure of our business. The proposal would sharpen our focus on materials processing, cranes and transport, and driveline component rebuilds.
For more than 35 years, MIMICO has supplied and supported equipment for customers across New Zealand. The proposed structure would concentrate our people, investment and expertise in areas where we have established specialist capability, backed by our parts, service and engineering teams.
Building on our specialist expertise
These areas of our business have continued to grow through one of the toughest construction markets in a generation.
That growth reflects the trust of our customers, the technical expertise of our team and our relationships with key brands, including Metso, HMF and ZF.
The proposed change would allow MIMICO to focus its investment on these specialist areas and continue developing the people, facilities and support services behind them.
A proposed transition for construction equipment
As part of the proposal, MIMICO would step back from construction equipment sales.
If the proposal is confirmed, existing construction equipment customers would be supported through an orderly transition. Warranty, parts and service arrangements would be confirmed directly, with a named contact provided for each customer.
MIMICO has managed a transition of this kind before. When Kobelco moved to a direct distribution model in 2023, we continued to support customers and their machines through a defined transition period.
What happens next
The proposal is currently being worked through with our team. We will provide a further update once the process is complete and the next steps have been confirmed.
