Truck and Crane Build
With branches in Cambridge and Morrinsville, Mitre 10 MEGA Cambridge supplies builders, tradespeople and homeowners across the region. The latest addition to its fleet is a new Scania P460, complete with an HMF 3220 RCS K8 crane, installed and integrated by MIMICO.
The truck now leads the fleet, handling routine deliveries as well as more complex frame and truss work across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty.
At the centre of the build is a Scania P460, equipped with Scania’s Opticruise 12-speed transmission and rated to a gross vehicle mass of 26 tonnes.
Mounted at the rear of the deck is an HMF 3220 RCS K8 crane, offering a maximum lifting capacity of 5,770kg and a hydraulic reach of up to 21.2 metres.

That reach matters on residential and commercial sites, where frames and trusses often need to be placed well back from the road or up onto a structure. The crane lets the team deliver and position loads in one visit, without relying on separate lifting equipment.
A fixed-flow hydraulic system supports crane operation, while the 6,750mm deck provides room for full frame and truss loads alongside general building supplies.
Rather than treating the truck body, crane and hydraulic systems as separate components, the project was delivered as a complete turnkey build through MIMICO’s in-house team.
The body follows a similar build approach to MIMICO’s recent Normans Transport Volvo FH16, with the work covering truck and body integration, installation of the HMF 3220 RCS K8 crane, hydraulic system setup, controls integration and final finishing.
Bringing these elements together under one build process allows the truck, crane and associated systems to be configured as an integrated package, built around the practical requirements of the operator and the work the vehicle will undertake.

As the flagship of the fleet, the truck was finished with details that go beyond the essentials.
Custom laser-cut Mitre 10 logos feature throughout the body, giving the truck a clean, branded finish that stands out on site and on the road.

Fully remote-controlled stabilisers allow the operator to set up the crane from a safe position with a clear view of the lifting area, while front and rear airbag suspension helps protect deliveries and gives a smoother ride between jobs.
The build brought together Mitre 10 MEGA Cambridge, Scania and MIMICO. Robbie Greenhalgh of Scania handled the truck sale, Phil Elsley of MIMICO looked after the crane sale, and Kyle Jonker, operations manager at Mitre 10 MEGA Cambridge, worked with both teams to shape a truck that suits the way the business operates.
The new Scania and HMF combination brings together reliable delivery capability, long-reach hydraulic lifting and a finish that reflects the Mitre 10 brand.
The completed build reflects the importance of matching the right truck, crane and body configuration to the work it needs to perform, backed by the technical expertise required to bring the package together.
