Horokiwi Quarries Ltd services the greater Wellington region with a full range of aggregate products for roading, concrete, asphalt, and drainage applications. As production demands continue to grow, the site required an upgrade to its water treatment capabilities to support both current operations and planned plant improvements.
MIMICO Engineering was engaged to design, supply, and install an LT-500 Lamella water clarifier, forming the first stage of a wider site upgrade programme that includes future sand washing and wastewater handling upgrades.
With an established network of tanks and holding equipment already in place for sludge and clean water management, the challenge was to fully integrate the new clarifier into the existing system. MIMICO utilised 3D design to accurately model and position the new LT-500 for efficient integration, minimising disruption and maximising performance.
The installation included a fully automated Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system to manage chemical dosing and optimise clarifier performance. The LT-500 was also supplied with a high-specification paint system designed to withstand the site’s operational and environmental conditions, while allowing additional capacity for future process plant expansions.
