customer spotlight: Stevenson Aggregates – Tauhei Quarry Primary Bin Upgrade

Stevenson Aggregates supplies a wide range of aggregate products across New Zealand for commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects – including roading, drainage, sand, concrete, and specialised construction products.

At Tauhei Quarry, Stevenson identified the need to replace their existing primary bin due to a combination of safety concerns and production inefficiencies. The design of the existing bin created operational challenges during loading, and its condition no longer met modern safety expectations.

MIMICO Engineering was commissioned to deliver a full replacement solution. Working closely with the site team, MIMICO designed, manufactured, and installed a new primary bin fully integrated into the existing plant layout.

The new bin was fabricated using 16mm mild steel for structural strength, with Hardox 450 wear liners installed to handle ongoing abrasion and extend service life. Full 3D modelling was used during the design phase to ensure all interfaces with the existing plant were accurately detailed, allowing for a smooth and efficient installation.

The project was delivered on time and on budget, ensuring minimal disruption to Tauhei Quarry’s operations while addressing both safety and productivity requirements.
