Graymont is a global leader in lime and limestone solutions, supplying products used in air and water purification, steelmaking, paper production, metals refining, and many other essential industries. With a significant presence across the Asia-Pacific region, Graymont operates the Te Kuiti lime plant in New Zealand as part of its network.
To improve front-end processing, Graymont required the installation of a new scalping screen to remove oversize material ahead of their primary Horizontal Shaft Impactor. MIMICO Engineering was engaged to deliver a complete turnkey solution.
MIMICO installed a Svedala VFS 36/15 double deck primary scalping screen, complete with a Metso Trellex rubber modular panel system — specifically selected to handle the sticky nature of the limestone scalpings and extend wear life.
A custom in-feed bypass chute was incorporated to allow Graymont to bypass the screen when feed material quality did not require scalping, giving the plant greater flexibility.
The full installation also included:
Roll-away discharge chutes for easy maintenance access
30/100 mm product conveyor and transition chute with full skirting and walkways for safe access
0/30 mm product conveyor with walkways for maintenance access at both head and sides
Through careful design and integration, MIMICO delivered a complete scalping screen upgrade that improved processing efficiency, flexibility, and safety at Graymont’s Te Kuiti site.
